Fuel tank sizes on '35 SC

If you could ask Regal a question directly then what would it be? (While Regal does read our site from time to time please do not expect them to answer your question here!)

Fuel tank sizes on '35 SC

Postby PowerOfTwo » Mon Jan 07, 2013 9:10 am

Can you tell me the capacity of the fore and aft fuel tanks? The owners manual indicates that filling them to capacity will cause fuel to flow from the vents before the filling pump shuts off, so knowing how much they hold seems essential.

Regal should be able to supply you with the capacity of the tanks. I'm not sure knowing that will prevent 'over filling' the tanks unless you know exactly how much fuel is in the tank.
On my boat the gas tank fill is located at a higher point than the gas tank vent. Fortunately, I never completely fill up so I do not have the issue of fuel coming out the vent.

Silence in the area is your friend when fueling a boat. You can hear the fuel tank getting close to full by listening to the change in the sound of the fuel going into the tank.

There used to be a product inserted into the vent hose that 'whistled' when filling up. The sound stops when fuel enters the unit. Haven't seen it in years, though.

My 3360 has fuel capacity of 167 gallon, I figure a little over 80 gallon each tank. I've been told they are the same in the 35SC.

Thanks pleasuretime. I was hoping Regal would chip in with a definitive answer, given this is the "Ask Regal" section ;)

The front tank under the bed looks a LOT smaller than the starboard tank in the bilge, plus it empties quicker, which leads me to believe it has less capacity - I hope we can get an absolute answer from Regal though.

My port tank is beneath the port cockpit seating, lift the seat out and find an access hatch through the sole for access to fuel sender, fill hose, etc. When you say "the front tank under the bed", it makes me wonder if we are talking about the same location. The two fuel tanks are very close to the same size as I've run them pretty close to empty and fill-up is always pretty evenly matched.

In my '35SC there is a triangular tank right at the nose of the boat which you access through a panel under the master berth, and there's one on the starboard side in the bilge.

You do have a different port setup than mine, forget all that I told you above. I'm going to the boat show Thursday, maybe someone there will have an answer, I'll check with them.

While this forum is a very good source of information, it is not operated by Regal. Someone at Regal may drop by once in a while but I would not count on them answering many of the questions that arise here.

And quite frankly we like it that way. We are free to discuss pros AND cons. As the owner of this forum I don't take any direction from Regal as to what we can or can not say. Regal HAS answered posts on the forum and even reached out directly to a number of members of the forum. They have NEVER asked me to "moderate" ANYTHING on their behalf.

This is an Owners forum not a Manufacturers forum and I'm sorry if some feel they may have been mislead in anyway.

According to Regals website the 35sc holds 168 gallons probably half in each tank. Knowing the capacity will not help fuel overflows from the vents unless you know how much fuel is left in the tanks. The sound of the fuel running into the tank should warn you when the tank is getting full.

Have you tried to ask the dealer where you purchased your boat?
Having made a sizable investment in their product, I would hope there would be someone there
willing to take a phone call or respond to an email to these and your future questions no matter how small
they may seem.

We have the 2012 0 35 SC the two gas tanks are different sizes - the Starboard tank is 93 and the port is 75
The tank that some referenced as under the forward berth is the Water tank not a gas tank

The post by Woosah above is accurate. The reason the starboard tank is 18 gallons larger is because this is the tank the generator draws from.
