Hello all, I am new here but looking to buy this beauty.

Never had this brand before, this would replace my Monterey 230 Explorer I have now.

What info do I need to know when looking at boat? It is located in NY and would be a long drive for me. I am talking to sales person via email for now.

Do you know how many hours are on it?
Are you having it surveyed?
Are there maintenance records/history from previous owner?

300.9 hrs.
plan on having a survey done. What is the cost typically on these?
Marina stated single owner and service was done by marina.

Boat was always pulled out of water when not in use.

Might vary from location to location but I think you can figure $18-20 per foot.

Definitely have it dry docked and on water mechanical and value survey! Our survey was about $750 plus the pull out (about $350). Make sure you have a independent certified surveyor! Vessel looks great in the picture plus the marina having all the service records for it is also a big plus! Make sure the surveyor gets a copy of the marina's records prior to the survey! What is the asking price? Did you do a search on approximate value to compare with the asking price?
Engine hours (300.9) are pretty low for a 1996 vessel? Were engines replaced and if so was hour meters re set or replaced? Good luck, let us know how your move forward?

ok some novice questions.

What exactly does a survey tell you? I have never heard of that.

Asking price is $12.500 for boat and $3000 for a used triple axle trailer in picture.

The short answer is whether or not the boat is worth buying.
Even though it looks good on the outside there maybe hidden problems that can lead to expensive repairs that you cannot see.
It is the surveyor's job to go over the boat / engines in detail and give you a report so there should not be any major surprizes and you will have a better idea of what you are buying.

I will attempt to attach a copy of our survey. It is quite good and lets you know if there is any damage, hull condition, all the ancillaries functioning/servicable/etc. and especially the condition of the engine(s), gears or out drives, etc. We had both a value and sea trial survey, worth every $ spent for this! The haul out was the most expensive part but the surveyor went thru the whole hull for blisters/soft spots/moisture content, etc, and found the port prop with some minor damage. Well, forget the two surveyor file attachments! A Window pops up saying a PDF file and a doc file extension is not allowed! Gosh, what other files are prohibited? Just pictures? If you are really interested you can send me a PM with your e mail address and I will mail them to you?
